General Electric Warehouse Material Specialist in Tampa, Florida

Role Summary:

The Warehouse Inbound Material Specialist will own and influence all material processes from goods receipt to stores, including MRB (Material Review Board) and prep-to-putaway. In this role the Inbound Material Leader will provide domain expertise and technical support to team(s) assigned to his / her length of the supply chain, as well as develop, collate, report and recommend projects gleaned from relevant metrics.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead continuous improvement projects in his / her area of responsibility and drive VCP (variable cost productivity) in the same. Responsible for documenting, tracking and trending: safety, overall cost, service, compliance, productivity and performance metrics. This person will identify and implement actions to improve process quality, as well as accelerate and support change efforts aimed at achieving organizational goals. Includes activities such as processing transactions, managing processes, material management and cross functional employee engagement.

In the role of Warehouse Material Specialist, you will:

  • Be an HSE champion – promote and example employment of the 5 HSE fundamentals; support an interdependent safety culture

  • Facilitate inbound material traffic, material into stores and MRB

  • Work with operations to understand and communicate priorities

  • Be involved in discussions with other functions and teams about improvement in processes, procedures and ways of working

  • Material and logistic defects root-cause investigation, analysis and resolution

  • Build process and reporting metrics to manage and track incoming system quality

  • Overcome road blocks to ensure timely and compliant material stocking

  • Drive warehousing optimization / Lean projects

  • Leverage communication and analytical skills to drive and influence action

  • Have the ability to energize, develop and build rapport at all levels within the organization

  • Proven ability to execute, multi-task and deliver on commitmentsOther duties as necessary Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or 5 years of work experience in logistics, material management, warehousing or supply chain management Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated progressive experience in a warehouse / distribution operations environment

  • Lean Six Sigma / APICS certification

  • Superior SAP knowledge, strong Excel skills including macro development and some computer coding experience

  • Ability to influence others and lead ad hoc teams

  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

  • Capability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Power Point and Word

  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
