Kaiser Permanente Associate Consultant Operational Excellence (Temporary) in Walnut Creek, California

Provides analysis, research, day-to-day execution of defined work streams for performance improvement project engagements. Participates in improvement efforts and knowledge dissemination within the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts analyses, interprets and translates performance improvement data effectively to clients. Independently determines and structures approaches to analysis and research for performance excellence consulting engagements. Participates in leading client teams through problem discovery and root cause analysis.

  • Facilitates small groups around tracks of work. Leads, facilitates and contributes to department infrastructure improvement efforts and team building activities. Facilitates process design or re-design engagements using appropriate process methodologies, tools and techniques. Facilitates meetings and/or conference calls to seek understanding and agreement using specific techniques. Follows a solution development process. Facilitates cross-functional problem solving using appropriate best practice processes and techniques. Ensures the alignment of requirements and solution alternatives with client objectives.

  • Develops and executes communication plans for performance improvement projects. Works with clients to clarify needs as needed. Prepares and delivers prepared portions of presentations to clients and other audiences. Writes communications and reports which include developing graphics/visuals. Presents summaries of analysis and research to sponsors and clients.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in consulting.


  • Bachelor's degree OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative/qualitative analysis.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced proficiency skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters' degree in business administration or public health preferred.

  • Proven skills and knowledge of Performance Improvement concepts and methods preferred.
