Amalgamated Life Insurance Cash Disbursement Associate in White Plains, New York

The Cash Disbursement Associate will be responsible for placing stops, maintaining various databases that track the status of payments, utilizing online banking sites and in-house software to perform multiple assigned tasks and supporting the Supervisor and other ad hoc projects.

  • Support Supervisor with the bi-weekly printing and organization of in-house expense checks and coordinate with Accounts Payable and other internal parties to ensure the proper support is included and to obtain authorization for the release of the items

  • Utilize online banking sites to place stops on checks upon reviewing the status of the items, collect monthly stop activity reports from online banking sites, distribute stop confirmations internally and utilize Vitech to update the status of stop payment workflow requests

  • Disburse payroll checks and statements and ensure all items are directed to the correct parties within Alico as well as to all outside subsidiaries

  • Maintain various excel databases that track the status of checks requiring special handling

  • Review check registers received via email from third party vendors to ensure they match the accompanying check packages received the following business day, pull urgent items requiring further handling and ensure that all items are processed appropriately

  • Obtain manual signatures on checks in accordance with the specifications for each fund or subsidiary

  • Support Supervisor with the processing of travel and expense reimbursement requests

  • Support Supervisor with responding to check positive pay exception items and ensure that daily cutoff times are adhered to

  • Support Cash Management group with the utilization of Vitech to enter ACH returns into the related reclamation workflow requests

  • Serve as backup for Cash Management members

  • Proficient in MS Office programs, especially Word and Excel

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a keen recognition of the value, significance and timeliness required of the data dealt with

  • Strong organization skills with focus on the ability to access required information quickly

  • Dependable with good inter-personal qualities and willingness to communicate with colleagues is essential

  • Must be able to assimilate quickly with minimum disruption

  • Must be a team player willing to work within the organization’s guidelines and commit to its mission

  • Experience in ORACLE accounting system a plus
